Cargo from Lithuania to Kazakhstan: transit times, documents and route in 2026

Kazakhstan is the most direct Central Asian destination from the Baltics. Groupage cargo leaves Vilnius for Almaty and Astana every week, so a pallet does not wait for a full truck. Below are indicative transit times, documents and what to check before shipping.
Transit times from Vilnius
| Mode | Vilnius → Almaty | Vilnius → Astana |
|---|---|---|
| Groupage (LTL) | 10–14 days | 9–12 days |
| Full truck (FTL) | 8–12 days | 7–10 days |
| Rail | 14–20 days | 12–18 days |
| Air | 1–3 days | 1–3 days |
Times are indicative: they depend on the route allowed for your code and on customs. From Germany or Poland, groupage to Almaty usually takes 13–19 days door to door.
Why Kazakhstan is faster than Uzbekistan
Kazakhstan is a member of the EAEU: after the EAEU external border the cargo moves to the consignee without a second customs stop. Uzbekistan is outside the EAEU, so cargo is cleared twice — as EAEU transit and as import.
Documents
EU side: commercial invoice, packing list, EX-A export declaration, T1 transit, CMR; certificate of origin on request. Kazakhstan side: the importer's contract, an EAEU-format invoice and, for regulated goods, an EAEU conformity document (TR CU). Veterinary and phytosanitary certificates are issued in Lithuania before departure.
What to check before shipping
The route is decided by the HS code: some goods may not transit Belarus and Russia (EU Regulations 765/2006 and 833/2014). For such cargo the alternative is via Turkey, Georgia, Baku and Aktau. Check your code in the free HS code check before booking.
How to get a price
Send the packing list (weight, dimensions, number of pallets), HS codes, loading address and delivery address — we send a fixed offer within 24 hours. The price includes EU export formalities and T1; Kazakh import VAT and duties and EAEU certification are not included.
