Who needs a multimodal route
Multimodal transport means the most suitable mode is chosen for each leg of the route, while you deal with a single partner and receive one set of documents.
What it looks like in practice
The typical scheme is sea or rail for the long leg and road for the first and last mile. The cargo reaches the door, not the port or the station. Transhipment happens in our own warehouses, so the chain does not break.
Why it costs less than a single mode
Each mode has its strength: sea is cheap over long distances, rail takes large volumes, road reaches the address, air solves the deadline. Combined, they give a better price-to-speed balance than using one mode for the whole way.
One partner who answers for it
We take responsibility for the cargo across the whole chain. That means no arguing at a transhipment point about which carrier lost what — you have one contact person from pickup to unloading.
When multimodal is unnecessary
If the cargo fits one trailer and the direction is simple, a direct full truckload will be faster and simpler. Multimodal pays off where one mode cannot cover the route, or covers it too expensively.
Route and restrictions
